Today I met John Parker out at the NZ Opera workshop area in Onehunga where his design is being made into a reality. I always love working with John, he has such a wonderful mind that can make something amazing out of nothing. Standing in the warehouse space playing with how the set piece can be used in different ways gave me itchy feet for the rehearsal floor. And as we had a little play with the set, people trickled in and out and the collaborative nature of theatre came to the fore. I was surrounded by creative and ingenious people all of whom create magic for audiences. They were there doing their NZ Opera stuff, but they have all given something to my project, just out of sheer good nature. What a great industy we work in.
